Payment Methods In China: Set up Alipay & WeChat Pay

Alipay and WeChat Pay are China's two most popular mobile payment platforms, offering convenient online and offline payments, money transfers, and financial services, and are widely used in everyday life and business nationwide.

HOW TO SET UP ALIPAY

1. Download Alipay from the App Store or Play Store and register using your mobile number. Again, international numbers are allowed.
2. Once you're logged in, you'll see an option to Add a Debit or Credit Card on the home page. If you don't see it, go to Accounts > Bank Cards.
3. Select the option to add a bank card and enter your details.

HOW TO SET UP WECHAT PAY

To use WeChat Pay you will need to go through identity verification. Verification may take some time so it is highly recommended that you set up your payment before your trip. This will also give you time to resolve any issues you may have when setting up your payment method.

1. Download WeChat Pay from the App Store or Play Store and register using your mobile number. International numbers can be used.
2. After logging in, go to Me > Services > Wallet. If you can't find it, go to Me > Settings > General > Tools > WeChat Pay and enable it.
3. In the Wallet section, select Add Card and agree to the terms and conditions.
4. You will need to provide additional details such as your name, address and ID. If you choose passport verification, you will need to upload a copy of your passport. Avoid using commas in the address.
5. Once verified, you can then enter your card details to add your card to your wallet.
